Release Year

It states that this movie was released in 1977 but I could swear I saw it in 1974! Does anyone else remember seeing it earlier? It states that this film was very controversial and had to be cut a lot in order to be shown on TV. I'm wondering if it was shown once in 1974 and not again until 1977 when the release date was changed due to the subject matter.
