One of the creepiest films

and one of my favourites of all time! I saw this when I was eight years old. My sister and I were always allowed to sit up and watch movies with our parents. This freaked me out completely then and when I watched it recently on satellite tv, freaked me out even more. Donald Pleasance practically oozed evil and David Hemmings was disturbingly attractive. Anyone else crazy about it?

Just watched it for the first time, and I didn't mind it. However I seemed to be more compelled with the dreary murder investigation than the whole background story of the victim. Sutherland was sensational, and Pleasance was superbly twitchy in his minor part. The emotionally stinging music score was another standout.

I have to agreee. I saw it when I was ten or twelve and found it to be very irritating. Alone the setup with the boy loving his cousine was very much unoccasional and the twist ending really knocked me out. Since I have seen and read many crime stories I have to say this is one of the best ever put to screen. The performance by Donald Sutherland as the cop is brilliant.
