Worst dinosaur movie of all time

If this ain't it, what IS?

Phone in your opinions.

Raptor.

All stock footage from carnosaur. At least the last dinosaur people tried.

reply

I'll have to check out Raptor. But there's more than bad FX to make a bad movie. Carnosaur was bad, but it also had no real charm. 'The Last Dinosaur' is fun to watch. Carnosaur is just a bunch of puppets and blood. See, there's some true qualities that a movie has to possess to be 'the worst'. The really suckass movies won't ever rate as the worst because they're just too incompetent to watch. This is a QUALITY bad movie.

reply

It's been 20 years or more since I saw 'The Last Dinosaur', so my memories are pretty vague....I just remember the tracker guy with the spear getting stepped on. I agree with your validation of taking 'Carnosaur' off the list...with that being said, 'The Land That Time Forgot' ties with it's sequel 'The People That Time Forgot' as my worst dinosaur movies. I recently picked them up as a double feature cheapie DVD and WOW....what I remembered loving as a kid was just terrible. And they did try. 'Warlords of Atlantis' runs a close third.

I agree. This was a favorite with everyone I talked into watching with me. When I was in college, one guy was actually trying to make Q & A video game. It was cheesy, but funny. Wrong answers would lead to photoshopped images of characters who look like they got beat up.

I used to watch Last Dinosaur and Land That Time Forgot constantly when I was 5 to 12 years old. Last Time I saw either was around 93 or 96.

Valley of Gwangi was a popular movie for me and my brother back in the day. We loved all those stop motion dinosaur movies.

I remember seeing Planet Of The Dinosaurs back when I was 8. Did anyone else think this movie was pretty violent? Of the one's memtioned I thought this one was the scariest when I was young. I haven't seen it in 18 years so I imagine the effect has probably worn off.

Wouldn't it be great if they did a Dinosaur movie marathon on Scifi with all these movies?

reply

Ha! Yes, Planet of the Dinosaurs has to be one of the worst, even if I get some guilty pleasure from watching it. And yeah, it was actually somewhat violent. The sleazy guy getting impaled by the Styracosaurus was definitely a memorable scene. And even how they killed the dinosaurs with spears and stakes was bloody.

I believe the creatures in lost world were called slee stacks not sure if the spelling is correct ? Funny note, I worked with a guy twenty yrs after I watched it as a kid he had the same profile as those creatures. LOL Its funny as of a yr ago I could never remember the name of them till one day my girlfriend at the time and I were remembering and laughing at the shows we watch as kids and she said "remember the slee stacks?"Too Funny!

reply

Sleestacks were in "Land of the Lost", a children's Saturday afternoon SERIES. Don't know about the being in the older Lost World movies.

reply

ok ok thats what i meant lol

I've got a job, a secretary, a mother, two ex-wives and several bartenders that depend upon me

reply

Ah ha, I got one new candidate:

Anonomous Rex (not sure about the spelling)

It's a recent campy sci-fi special, so in another 2 years people may be buzzing about it's horridness.

It was about dinosaurs with such advanced technology that they could project tactile holograms over their bodies so they could look and act like humans.

The holograms weren't just cosmetic, they actually shaped the dinosaur into human form, giving them LITERAL physical characteristics of a human, not just the look.

reply

Although this was a horrible film. Are we forgetting Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend? I would say it's at least on par with this for worst dino film ever. But I guess it's all just a matter of opinion.

reply

Hellfire, I had forgotten that one. I went to see that one in the theatre with my parents and sister. Wow.

reply

Not even close! Baby is actually a solid flick.

reply

Ha! ha! This movie left a bad one, eh, Knsevy? Ha! ha!

reply

Without a doubt: Bert I. Gordon's King Dinosaur. What a stinker!

reply

Unknown Island - guys on stilts dressed in dinosaur suits!?!?!

-or-

Planet of Dinosaurs(talk about talentless)

reply

I keep trying to submit this to IMDB as a trivia point: the Munsters' pet under the stairs, Spot, was the head of one of the ridiculous T=Rexes from Unknown Island.

reply

It was actually the movie The Land Unknown that had Spot's T Rex head. I just watched it last night.

reply

Jurassic Park II was wretched.

It made Last Dinosaur look like Seven Samurai.

reply

For my money, the worst is "Dinosaurus". Terrible acting, terrible FX, terrible script, a truly awful masterpiece of dino badness.

reply

nope, the worst is "legend of dinosaurs and monster birds" which features neither of the titular creatures.

boot to the head!

I have to admit, while it isn’t that good, Dinosaurus is a guilty pleasure of mine. For some reason I like it.
