DVD

I've never had a chance to see this film. I'm in Australia. Any news on a DVD release?

Somesunnyday:

The film has just been theatrically re-released and is playing for a short run at the Cinematheque Ontario, here in Toronto. This usually means that a DVD is not far behind.

I don't have info on the DVD. The movie is now showing in Toronto. I went today, Sunday, afternoon. There were two other people there and they left a third of the way through it. That was their loss (or would they see it as a loss?).
This, in it's raw way, is one of the most beautiful and realised movies ever made.

The DVD is on it's way:

'Now, after a lengthy restoration and even more years wrangling over music rights, “Killer of Sheep” at last is coming to theaters (it opens Friday at the Tivoli). A DVD version will be released in November.'

Yes.Released this week,11/13/2007 by Milestone Film and Steven Soderbergh in an impeccable two-disc set that contains a tough-minded essay by the critic Armand White. He sees the film as peerless, which it is,but resists calling it a masterpiece-which it is-out of fear that such a classy, conventional term might camouflage its tragic view of life in the black suburb of Watts. The film was shot by Charles Burnett(his debut feature) in 16 mm black and white,as his thesis film when he was a graduate student at UCLA in the 1970's."Killer of Sheep" has been declared a national treasure by the Library of Congress, and one of the 100 essential films of all time by the National Society of Film Critics.
