Why didnt the husband want sex with his wife?

It just seemed weird, that he was a nice, caring guy, but whenever his wife wanted sex, he just moved away from her or left the room. was it just a product of his stress and insomnia?

reply

Yes, it was.

;)

His reaction to his wife seemed perhaps a bit harsh, but yeah obviously life was wearing this guy down.

sex was something people there did when they were anything but happy - mostly bored. he didn't consider himself of the same ilk as his neighbors. he was on some next sh*t and sex would've only gotten in the way.

Exhaustion and depression will do that do a person. In a certain context, trying to please another human sexually can become just another task, a form of pressure.

This is one of the best films I've ever seen about the way poverty grinds people down and becomes a self-perpetuating cycle. When you're in a situation like these people are, you can't even SEE the light at the end of the tunnel, let alone walk towards it. Should be mandatory viewing for "pull yourself up by your bootstrap" types who were born on third and think they hit a triple.

On an unrelated note, did anyone else think actress Kaycee Moore resembled Michelle Obama?

reply

Actually, yes, I thought that she looked a lot like Michelle Obama. Maybe a little bit less fierce-looking.
