For people who liked it, what other 'favorite' movies do you have

Just wondering what other movies people liked if they liked this piece of crap Jubilee.
And don't say CLockwork Orange even if it is one of your favorite films because masterpieces shouldn't be compared or complimented with waste.

And please don't get offended by my comments (people who liked it) because even though I disliked Jubilee I AM genuinely interested in what other movies you like.

Well apart from Clockwork Orange...Eraserhead, Videodrome, Tetsuo, Texas Chainsaw Massacre '74, The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover, Nekromantik, Last House on Dead End Street, The Tin Drum, Ghosts of the Civil Dead, Night of the Demon '57...Italian Splatter mainly but I'll watch all sorts. Derek Jarman is one of my favourite artists which is why I love Jubilee so much if you're interested.

Question: Did you ever hurt yourself to make somebody sorry?

reply

Nekromantik now there's a classic!

And back on topic, I haven't seen this movie, but i honestly really want to, just haven't tracked down a copy (that doesn't need paypal, paypal hates me) yet.

It sounds like fun to watch, not great but lots of fun. People like you that coin a movie crap, and rub that in the face of those that actually like it, make me just the more interested.

Call me obscure or something, but the more hate a movie gets, the bigger my interest in it, and the more i tend to like it. ((only once have i turned of a movie because it was to bad to watch, and that was Scream hahaha))

"I AM genuinely interested in what other movies you like."

Surely if you were, you wouldn't tell us what we're not allowed to include in our lists. I think perchance you actually want to tell us we're tasteless idiots, again? :-P

I'm a big fan of this film, but having said that, I wouldn't call it a GREAT film and it sure as hell is not a film for everybody. It's got a very distinctive charm, plus I'm a huge fan of early punk, but I'd rate it an 8 at best.

Films that I like, that I think other Jubilee fans might like too:
Repo Man
Quadrophenia
Wings of Desire
SLC Punk
Jesus' Son
24 Hour Party People

This isn't anywhere near a complete list of the films I'm into, but in the context of this discussion, I figure it's probably pointless and not very helpful to mention that some of my favorite directors include relatively mainstream names like Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson, Wes Anderson and David Fincher.

Jubilee isn't my favorite Jarman film, but he is one of my favorite directors. Some of my other favorites are:
Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey
Jack Smith
Kenneth Anger
Passolini
Dusan Makavejev
Luis Bunuel
John Waters
Larry Clark
Harmony Korrine
Bruce La Bruce
Christophe Honre
Catherine Breillat
etc. (You've gotten the idea by now)

I don't see how A Clockwork Orange is any better than Jubilee, they're both a case of style over substance.

Transformers and the Twilight series.

But this film is masterpiece, just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it is not good. I don't like Malick, but I will never call his films "waste." Films are suppose to be a visual medium, which this film clearly is and there is a message behind it all, plus having a criterion release must mean something. Art house films aren't for everyone. But anyway on to my favorite movies
