This movie may have caused me major psychological damage as a child. I need to find a copy to resolve some issues.

YES ME TOO!! Not really a children's movie. But loved it all the same. Will it ever be available on DVD aside from the abominable 98' remake?

When I was in grade school, around grade 4 I think, our librarian used to read to us for an hour a couple times a week for the entire school year which managed to get us through a dozen or so books. One of them was Jacob two two, and I've never forgotten how much I enjoyed it. I think it's one of the things that got me into the obsessive type reading I do today at 41. I'd love to see this movie if it's worth the time. I understand the remake isn't worth the look, but I've never heard anything about this earlier 1978 version. So what say you all. Do I invest the time and money into locating a copy, or try to rent it somewhere if it's available? I hope you two above posters get to review it and resolve those issues it brought about. That scary was it? Lol
thanks. Let me know on this please. You may want to PM my profile here to make sure I get this.

I had the pleasure of having my teacher read the book to me first. I loved the story and actually took out the 'book on record'(33rpm LP) from the school library. It had a wonderfully-voiced Englishman reading the book, further cementing my love for the story. That's why I was actually quite disappointed with the film version. It changed the dialogue and many key scenes. Even 'Child Power', which had previously been represented by 'Lone Ranger-esque' status (even using the same style music on the audio version) was reduced to a disco-clad pair of kids who simply looked like they were playing 'dress-up' while watching an episode of The Superfriends! I also remember the lighting in the film being quite dark. Lots of programs I watched as a kid seemed so great back then, yet now look pretty cheezy. this was one of the few films I ACTUALLY thought was silly even back then. Perhaps seeing it now MAY have the opposite effect. I might actually like the cheezy production values.
