dissatisfied by ending

Spoilers!
Hi folks,
I like that old-fashioned B-movie, but I am not satisfied with the ending. Well, only few people got killed by the ants (or was there only a single victim; I am not quite sure); most of the people who had been trapped in the house got away - BUT that doesn't mean the danger is over; the ants are still there. So, what should happen next? Simply fence in the area, put "DANGER! No trespassing!" signs on the fence here and there, that's not enough...
In other words, if there's nothing done against the infestation, the ant population would grow in numbers and possibly the infested area would become greater and greater.
How would the local authorities - possibly in cooperation with the National Guard - act to prevent this?
I'm not an entomologist, so I am not quite sure whether it would suffice to find and kill the ant queen. Would that definitely mean that reproduction becomes impossible, the ants would all die and, thus, after a while, the danger could come to an end?
Perhaps they left the ending open so they could, one day, make a sequel :-)
Moosie Drier, now grown up, comes back to the fenced-in area and pays it back to the nasty beasts... :-)
Remember the final scene of Piranhas, when the reporter at the shore asks the scientist whether there is still any danger and she says no, no, there's no danger anymore, and the ocean behind her turns bloody red? Hahaha, that was obviously a door left open for some silly sequels (which then were made, in fact)...
Kind regards

The entomologist explained at the end: the fire and the leveling of the hotel would be enough to break up the massive ant colony. Once the family was broken up, the ants would spread out and not be as aggressive or powerful again.

They destroyed the nest, but I would think they could regroup

Hello Turkday23,
I think you're right, as long as the "queen" has survived. Not quite sure whether there are ant species which could survive without queen, but I don't think so.
Just a thought, not related to the movie - should in a distant future human "pioneers" have the chance to build up communities on another planet, somewhere in another galaxy, and there was one with ants or spiders, and another with dinosaur-like creatures - I guess it would be better to chose the "Dino planet"... because all sorts of insects just have too strong abilities to regenerate, and their sheer number is another advantage... and, further, you can't poison or scorch with fire the whole surface of a planet if you intend to live there, afterwards; while the Dinosaurs would very soon go the way the great buffaloes of the American plains went... for some years there would be a series of game hunting expeditions with big (okay, very big!) weapons and then they would be extinct, perhaps with the exception of some dozens here and there in reserved areas.
