Ends up in dust pan
At the end, didn't the m.m.,or what's left of him,get swept into a dustpan?I seem to remember that.Havn't seen it since first ran.Don't think I've ever seen it on TV.Has it been on?Wonder about that from time to time.

shareClose. A trash can.
shareMuch to the apparent displeasure of the sanitation worker.
shareI guess it was the first monster to melt to death. A rather anticlimatic ending I must say.

Wicked Witch of the West- Wizard of Oz (1939) :)
I also love how it never explained anything. Last we heard about him is "He's getting stronger the more he melts!"
then he gets weak and melts to death.
I actually think this movie is good for getting you thinking. Instead of just blowing something off about it, there might be a way to make it make sense to you. I like what another poster in another thread said about that part:
"He gets stronger as he melts: When the guy said this, he was only making an observation. Don't forget, this is a sci-fi film as well as a horror film. In sci-fi, anything can does happen. The melting disease started with his skin, then it had to get through the skull before affecting his brain. Until the end, his brain was still working well enough and his blood was stil circulating well enough to keep him alive. Here is how I think he got stronger: His insanity increased his adrenaline, especially because he knew on some level that he was looking more horrendous with no hope of a cure, and that he lost his arm, and that he was dying. Adrenaline increases strength. People have done amazing things in an adrenaline rush that they couldn't do otherwise."
I remember that post and I agree, it is thought-provoking.
"As Balzac said, There goes another novel."
I actually LOVED the ending. I thought that if they cleaned up some of that dreadful middle, added some more tits and maybe a few more deaths, it actually good have been decent.
shareYes, the ending is what I remember best about the movie (and it has been many, many years since I saw it). Rather touching in a macabre sort of way, if I recall.

I thought it was great. The perfect ending. How else would 'the incredible melting man' meet his demise. For a piece of crap movie, I really like this flick. I remember seeing it at the theater when it first came out as a kid too young to go to an R rated movie. Even then it was not really scary but after the old people got eaten, I was ready to walk if he ate the little kids! Lots of funny moments - the bums being quiet because they didn't want to share their hooch with another 'bum'; but some believable ones as well - the breakdown of the wife returning home and barely escaping Steve after seeing her husband eaten and then cutting Steve's arm off with a cleaver. Classic schlock to someone who likes this kind of stuff. I highly recommend it.
shareI thought the last scene would involve a hose with hot soapy water. So long, DNA!
"Great theater makes you smile. Outstanding theater may make you weep."

I remember seeing it on tv a lot when I was a kid. I'm from Michigan and it always played on tv 20. It usually played on either Creature Feature or Thriller Double Feature.
shareGood to see someone else from Michigan who remembers those shows! For me they were on WKBD TV 50 out of Detroit. They also showed alot of Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Vincent Price. I really miss those shows! Saturday Shocker replaced Creature Feature in the afternoon. I still remember the theme music and the movie clips shown for all three shows. The other one was Chiller (not Thriller) Double Feature, which came on at 11:00 or midnight every Saturday night.
There was a Thriller thing (using music from Michael Jackson's Thriller) on NBC every Saturday afternoon for awhile too, where they showed scary movies. I miss this too!
One if Crows best lines.
"How many horror movies end with the janitor sweeping up the monster into a garbage can?"
