Poor Samantha. (Spoilers)

Why did she have to die? I expected the film to end with her shedding tears over Utam's death and Johnny doing his best to console her. It wasn't until they were on the roof that the thought crossed my mind that Samantha might die too. It's such a shame to kill her off. She was such a dream girl and they just killed the fantasy. Where else are you going to find a friendly, vivacious, and ultra-sexy blond living in the jungle who is willing to hook up with the first guy she meets?

They should have never left the jungle. I'd be willing to spend the rest of my life living off of jungle fruit if it could be spent with Evelyn Kraft in and out of an animal skin bikini.

Hey dude, don't be sad. Remember, this was a fantasy, so how about in your fantasy she's really still alive, and you go back to the island and live in that cave? At least now Utam won't be looking over your shoulder and screeching!

Who said she died. Notwithstanding being locked on the roof and Johnny being in the stairwell when the whole building explodes at the end, the final scenes show him with her in his arms walking away from the building and looking over the city. How'd that happen? Obviously too complex an escape to actually show.

Samantha is the perfect low maintenance woman. In the jungle, on a ship during a storm, running through the streets of Hong Kong, her makeup was perfect as was her (late 1970's) hair. Here's a woman who wouldn't need to take four hours of grooming to get ready to go to the grocery store. She deserved far better.

I was also thinking this. You notice she is kind of shielded from the blasts, but suppose we won't know for sure until we find a script somewhere.

Edit: Actually after doing some searching it appears there is an alternate "happy ending" in some cuts of this. Can't seem to find any info other than people asking if recent releases have happy or sad ending. So you may be in luck if you consider that the canon

I liked her death, it suited the film. Two different types of beasts are basically taken from the jungle. She doesn't adapt that well to her new environment even though she tries and is killed alongside her 'partner' who she essentially betrayed by leading him into humanity.

Death is the standard breach for a complex prize.
