The giant ape looks Chinese, rofl.

I know Im gonna get flamed for this, but oh well Im just saying what I thought when I was watching this movie. Now I understand this is one of those goofy, low-budget monster movies. But come ON now....even in the late 70's they had very cheap Gorilla suits that at least looked like an APE, not a Chinese face, lol. Even in the 1930's Hollywood version of King Kong there wasnt an ape that looked Caucasion, lmao.

My best friend at University was Chinese, and he used to tell me about the xenophobic views of Chinese culture in BOTH the democratic and communist cultures of China. On both the mainland AND in Taiwan he told me there was a sense of their superiority (to the world) only being dimmed by their internal conflict. Also, when you think of it from the viewpoint of someone like Roddenberry---who created the Romulans in Star Trek to reflect the paranoid & xenophobic culture of the Communist regime in mainland China---when you see the giant ape thru those eyes you just think how this also reflects something much more than a badly designed Ape Suit. This reflects a society that is so insecure about itself, even the MONSTERS have to look like them.

Just keep in mind, I am saying all of this FULLY AWARE of the same thing happening at times in Hollywood and Western cinema. That, however, is well documented and is always being brought up in the 'politically correct' conversations, which is fine. Yet when it happens in something like this, its either ignored because nobody wants to be "non-PC" or it is played down as " oh its just a...." and anyone who says this kind of stuff is bashed as being what they accuse them of. Sad. If you dont agree...imagine if the last King Kong had a gorilla with a white mans face? Think about it...it would be trashed relentlessly. I just think it needed to be said that it isnt just in the West where this happens, and sometimes it happens elsewhere for much more disturbing reasons.

Oh, I must be the first person in the world to mistype something on the internet, thanks SO much for the help!

I noticed it too. Just adds to the general hilarity, I think. If people get all bent out of shape at your for noticing (or commenting) tell them to get a life. After all, you didn't make the film.

The Peking Man IS Asian, so it's only apt it should look Chinese. It was like China's Bigfoot.

I don't see why The Peking Man should look anything other than Asian. What I'm wondering is why he looked more Chinese than Indian, even though they found him in India.
