Did Auntie commit suicide?

I've been watching this movie for years and just now on TCM, it hit me that the film SEEMS to indicate that Auntie didn't just eventually die, she took her own life.

When she appears in the mirror just before she possesses Oshare, she looks young and alive again with black hair, then she gasps like something awful happened to her, then the mirror begins dripping blood and cracks into pieces. Subsequently as Auntie takes possession, Oshare's face breaks into shards and falls off like pieces of a mirror as well.

This slightly indicates to me that Auntie at one point broke the mirror and slit her wrists or otherwise cut herself with the shards. Am I way off base on this?
