Looks more like 1970

The cars , hairstyles, clothes all look older than 1976 to me.
Maybe it didn’t get released until 1976?

reply

That's because it takes place in the early 1960s.

reply

Bingo! 👍

reply

Do they actually mention the year? I did see a picture of Kennedy at the police station.

reply

There was a calendar, poster or something in the police station that clued me in along with feel of the film.

reply

The way the ladies were dressed for church was a definite hint it was the 1960s. Wikipedia apparently says it's 1961.🤷‍♀️

reply

Yes, that for sure with their dresses and gloves. What a dreadfully gritty and depressing movie.

reply

I thought Brooke Shield's death scene was really disturbing, especially when the killer dragged her body.

reply

I agree. I’m surprised this one is not more well known.

reply

I don't really know if the grit was intended but you really are on to something there. IT was also filmed in Patterson, NJ. Whether that had any meaning or significance, who knows.

reply

I just did a rewatch and there was a calendar in the police office that said 1961.

reply

Well, there you go.👍

They did an incredible job at making the film look like 1961, despite likely having zero budget for the film. The production value overall is top notch, as is the camerawork and editing. You can tell the director took his time, and put a lot of effort into making the film look great. It's still a low-budget horror film, but it stands out from most others of its ilk.

reply

It’s pretty amazing that this was his second film, with his first being a porno.

reply

Looks like he spent most of his career doing production design, which makes sense based on how he dressed the sets for this film.

reply

That does make sense.

reply

Aha...I missed that...thx
