but I hate the cheap marketing ploy it uses in using Brooke Shields to sell this film as if she is one of the main characters in this film. she is barely, barley in it. she's in it for about 15 screen time if that. so putting her on the video box cover or something like that is so stupid and wrong and misleading.

this is a classic horror film. the only problem with it is how they pointlessly and carelessly tacked on the killing of the priest at the end. that was gratuitous and was only there to shock the audience.

they should have had the last kill be the killing of the guy by the old crazy woman when she dropped him from that building. where it was in this film and the trauma of it and the emotionally powerful part of that death made it the perfect last kill and the only right way for this film to be is for that to be the final kill in this film.

this isn't on the same creepy level as the stepford wives or the omen or black Christmas but it's up there on the creepy level. it wears on you with it's emotionally harrowing scenes and it's traumatic and realistically powerful scenes of violence. whenever there is violence it's done in the best way which is the '70s horror film way of showing you just enough of the violence to make it seem like it really happened. and they do this everytime there is violence in this film. very well done.

it is a very eerie and dark and grim film. it's dead black horror. it couldn't be any more realistic or cold or insensitive with it's violence. it doesnt' care about being light or holding back on the violence. it just gives you violence in the most harrowing and explicit and vivid ways.

this is one of the best horror films ever made, which makes me so furious with anger that it is at a mere 6.5 on here? wtf??? it should be at at least, at least 8.0. 6.5 is barely above average and this film is exceptional and is just about at the very top of the rating list of the best horror films ever made.

you see this is why I hate imdb, they always, always get the rating wrong. a lot of people who havent' seen this film and see it's rating on here are going to think it's just an ok or average movie based on it's 6.5 rating and then they might not watch it which is so wrong because imdb's rating should make people watch a good movie based on it's good rating and not watch bad movies based on their bad ratings. this rating will turn away a lot of people, which is so wrong.

yeah, it's not as impactful as the omen or the stepford wives or night of the living dead or black Christmas but that doesnt' mean it's not one of the best horror films ever made.

now at first in the first like 30 minutes, it's not that scary or disturbing but it wears on you, it wears you down with it's clever emotional trauma and clever way of showing you just enough of the violence to make it always seem like the violence actually happens.

the part that really disturbed me was the part near the end with the old woman in the church, when she drags that guy's body and then pushes it over the edge, with his body wrapped up. holy shi# that was disturbing. but the last kill was overkill, when she slashes the Priest's throat.

I mean come on. that was too much as the impact of her killing that guy who I just talked about was the perfect amount of kills that this movie needed and where it happened in this film made it the perfect place to make it the last kill in this film. that last kill with the priest was so not needed and gratuitous and cheap because it was gratuitous, it was like they were trying to shock you and that was the only reason why it was in this film.

otherwise this is a perfect film that is stone cold, death black. this is as grim as it gets in psychological and emotional horror and terror.
