Leonard Maltin Underrates This Classc

Dear Folks,
Leonard Maltin sells this film short by giving it only an average rating in his book.
Mr.Maltin writes that it's noteworthy because it was the film that introduced Brooke Shields.
Talk about drastically underrating this Classic!

I agree. Maltin needs to watch this one over again. He couldn't be more wrong in this instance. His verdict really stunned and disappointed me.

well with all the people on here saying how great this film is it makes me wonder why it's rating on here is only at 6.5??? what the fuc# this film is better than 90% of all the horror films that have ever been made. it deserves to be at, at the very least 8.0 stars on imdb.

reply

Maltin is one of the worst critics EVER! I just can´t believe people praise him so much. He didn´t underrate only this one, but also with other great horrors such as Kubrick´s The Shining

reply

Dear Matheusmarchetti,
I don't think Mr.Maltin is one of "the worst critics ever"(checkout Michael Medved!!!).
But this writer feels that Leonard Maltin(or whoever reviewed this film on his staff)needs to take a second look at this Classic film.

I've never seen the recut Holy Terror version, but that very well could be the version he reviewed.

Michael Medved is the worst critic alive. I did not have any love for Joel Siegel either when he was among the living. Maltin tends to undertate films that have some merit while overrating those that are awful. Maybe if it had subtitles he would of liked it better.

I do not listen to critics anymore. I did more so when I was young, but now
I only read the bad reviews for fun and not the goods ones.

reply

Maltin doesn't actually write all (if any) of the reviews in his movie guides -- he pays people to watch the films and write the reviews for him. Their names are listed at the beginning of the book.

I dont' give leonard maltin any credit or integrity or respect. he has none of these things because he also gives ALL the Friday the 13th film bad ratings, like 2 out of 4 stars.

I think MST3K put Leonard Maltin in a nutshell when they showed Laserblast. Maltin rated that movie 2 and 1/2 stars, then towards the credits, they started naming famous and well loved movies that he only rated 2 and 1/2 stars, or in some cases, less. He has no business writing movie reviews.
