Hitchcock liked it

So evidently Hitchcock loved the film and told Brooks that he did a great job parodying his style of filmmaking

reply

What do you mean evidently?
What's your source?

reply

Mel Brooks said so himself in his American Masters documentary which is now streaming on Netflix and there have been other sources that have stated this as well.

reply

After HA was released, Hitchcock sent Brooks a bottle of champagne from his very expensive collection.

Brooks did want Hitchcock to do a cameo in HA, but by this time H was so old that he didn't even like shooting cameos for his own films, witness Family Plot where we only see him in silhouette behind a closed door.
