yeah i've heard that the games are based on this movie

reply

The games aren't based on the movie. They just have the same title.

being that grand theft auto is a common term for car theft.

I have read the plot of the movie and is about a boy and a girl that escapes in a car to Las Vegas. In the game is a guy (Tommy Vercetti) doing missions for the crime (that uses cars too)
Is only the title, not the movie

Yep!

Could be inspired by this, considering the look of that cover too

reply

Well, if the games (especially the first one) aren't based on this movie then why both have almost same logo? Or am I the only one who notices the similarity between the logos?

I'm sorry for my bad English. Jag kan skriva bättre svenska ...ja paljon paremmin suomea :D

The only elements of the similarity with the film and the game(s) is yes, the title font/style, The elements of nicking a car, car chases and the fact that the title's are about nicking a car. Thats-About-It

reply

I second the motion for a group slapping.

Although the plots aren't too much alike, I noticed quite a few similarities between GTA gameplay and this movie. Here's 10 off the top of my head.

1. Camera angles on the vehicles (If you push select on the controller, you get the same angles.)

2. Slow motion jumps.

3. Car explosions.

4. A Demolition Derby (San Andreas)

5. Ice cream truck (Vice City)

6. A radio talk show host constantly broadcasting just like the radio in the game's vehicles.

7. Police chases

8. Reward money for completing a mission.

9. Girlfriend status (San Andreas)

10. Crass language and implied sex in vehicles (how did this movie get a PG rating?)
