The Baby

Great film! I discovered The Report by pure chance when I borrowed
Certified Copy from my local library, it was included in the case, by the Criterion collection.

Can anyone tell me the name of that beautiful baby girl, their daughter
in the movie? in 1976 she must have been 2 years old ...

Also, please allow me to state the fact that after seeing this movie,
Shohreh Aghdashloo's plastic surgery is now confirmed (!) The young
wife in the movie, a totally different person. I guess for her, aging
was a plus :-)

Behnoosh Rodpour. Behnoosh is the name she is called in the movie also, as it would be very hard to teach a 3 year old to respond to a different name than what her real life parents call her.

I don't think Shohreh Aghdashloo, as pretty as she looks in this film with her natural nose, needed any plastic surgery at all, and, in fact, her nose-job is so badly done that no "confirmation" from her Iranian films was necessary. Women live throughout their lives in a constantly darkening world of self-doubt, no matter how beautiful they are. Fortunate is the man who realizes that fact. Her performance in her native language so expertly directed by Kiarostami is by far her best. Not just her but every actor in the entire film, including the little girl who can barely utter a few words, is fantastic.

This film is one of Kiarostami's greatest and one can only hope, given the original negative's destruction during the Islamic revolution, a better print surfaces that doesn't have the rather sloppily done subtitles embedded in it and can have more professionally done removable subtitles attached.

Anyone who loves this film as much as I do might also want to check out this documentary
