Where can I buy a copy of "Una Giornata Particolare"?

I took a trip to Rome some time ago, visiting a friend who was working at the university of Rome. He stayed in an apartment in a building complex built by Mussolini during the 30'. The owner told us that the apartment was used for a film shoot in the 70'. The film was called "Una Giornata Particolare" directed by Ettore Scola. We were sitting in the kitchen having breakfast, and the owner told us one of the principal frames of the film was exactly where we were sitting. Sophia Loren was standing by the stove making food and Marcello Mastroianni was sitting by his kitchen table across the backyard in an apartment in the other building on the same floor. So as you can understand I want to see this picture ! Does anyone know if it's possible to buy it anywhere?

Check out www.ibs.it
The site is in Italian. They are safe and reliable. The only problem is that the movies are in PAL color scheme. I usually buy my Italian books and movies form them.

It's finally out on DVD...i've had a tape copy for years and now it's out...but I should tell you that the story re the rome apt. was all a put on...in fact that building is located in Montreal, Canada...the film was shot partially in Rome and partially in Montreal because Scola found that to be the only building suitable...

you can enter a mexican site www.mixup.com.mx and they sell and deliver to the US, the DVD is formatted in Regions 1 and 4 and the cost is of mere 4 dollars!!! Maybe is not an extraordinary edition, but the movie itself is worth it!

I wouldn't recommend the mexican DVD release for this film unless you could understand spanish, portuguese or italian, because it doesn't contains english subtitles.

The DVD is in Italian with spanish and portuguese subtitles.

If you speak any of those languages then visit the place mentioned by stephen-39. The DVD is quite cheap, less than 4 dollars.

cheers.

I have to doubt whether or not the building is located in Canada for a couple of reasons. First of all, there are quite a few Fascist buildings, including apartment blocks, still standing in Rome and other Italian cities. Some are visible on the train from the airport to the Termini in Rome and so are among the first things that you see when you visit. Secondly, most of the "extras" inhabiting the building look so Roman that I must assume them to be locals (watch the scene where everyone is leaving but the two main characters), in which case it is strange to imagine large numbers of them being flown to Canada for such a brief appearance onscreen. So I am inclined to believe the OP.
