What is in the box?

At the end of the film (most notably when Clint Eastwood is shot although it does appear several times previously) Sondra Locke's character is holding a long rectangular box wrapped in gold paper. Does anyone know what is in this box? or did the version of the film i was watching edit that part out?

reply

I believe they were the flowers Ben had bought Gus when they were in the hotel waiting for the arrival of the bus.

reply

I noticed that too, they were flowers but she stole them fom the motel room

reply

Fool watch the movie. .. Shockley orders the flowers for Gus. Remember in the cheap motel... he calls for "room service" and asks for steaks, fried chicken and wine. "Anything else?" asks the motel operator... "You have a flower shoppe ib town? I want some flowers too." (Or words to that effect). Later you see Gus admiring her long stem roses. She loved him for it and packed her rose box for the ride to Phoenix.

As i said in my original post (although perhaps i wasn't fully clear) i was watching a tv edit of this film, the scene with the flowers was completely cut out of that particular version and as a result i had no idea what was in the box. now the two previous replies have politely explained the purpose of the box, i don't see why you have to be so aggressive with your reply; i'm not a fool i just asked a perfectly reasonable question

reply

I'm sorry... TV Edit Challenged reasonable question person. Don't mind me, that's a perfectly friendly badge we rip on each other 'round these parts. LOL!
