The end scene

Why are all the cops just standing around with their thumbs up their asses while Blakelock is going all psycho??? Seriously he's screaming then proceeds to shoot Feyderspiel and Shockley!! Then he tries to shoot Gus! .. You think the cops would have pounced Blakelock the second he started shooting! .. All I'm saying!

reply

Of course this comes after Shockley commandeers a bus and drives it into downtown Phoenix where it gets shot up by hundreds of bullets but not a single one hits a tire?

reply

More like, you would think the cops would have pounced on the allegedly rogue cop and his hooker girlfriend, who they were just firing at a few minutes ago, especially after she shoots their boss, the police commissioner. Perhaps the entire force had a collective WTF moment watching all of this unfold and maybe thinking about the public outcry of treating downtown Phoenix like a frigging warzone.

reply

The cops were just shooting at a bus. Very impersonal. The emergence of Ben and Gus might have suddenly humanized their orders - especially since Ben and Gus were both unarmed and were not posing any sort of threat.

Like I just wrote in another thread, the film (especially the end) is a bit tongue-in-cheek. In this context, it makes sense to me.
