Soundtrack?

Other than Cat Stevens' "Child for a Day," does anyone know what songs appeared in this film, and whether a soundtrack was released? It seems the film's score contained variations on Cat Stevens' song.

I saw this in the theater, and I remember liking the music very much -- a lot more than the film, actually. I remember there's a lot of soccer involved.

Great little flick, with William Katt, John Heard and Susan Dey in their heydays, and also the wonderful Beverly D'Angelo, the ever solid Robert Loggia, and even Swoozie Kurtz.

This film combines an appealing innocence (and pain) of first love with some rather candid lovemaking scenes and frank discussions of same. And, yes there is also some soccer!

It is streaming on Netflix currently and from that I gleaned the following:

Music~

'Child for a Day' -- Cat Stevens
'Karelia Suite' -- Jean Sibelius / Radio Symphony Orchestra Helsinki
'Antico Canto Siciliano' -- Carmine Coppola and His Orchestra
'That's Enough For Me' -- Paul Williams

I don't know if there ever was a soundtrack released, though.

'Child for a Day' was on Cat's 'Izitso' album released in 1977, and 'That's Enough For Me' can be found on Paul Williams' 'Classics' album, also from 1977 (great songs on that album).

Also, the movie was based on a story in The New Yorker entitled 'Sentimental Education' by Harold Brodkey.

Just a sweet, wonderful little film from the Paramount Pictures days of yore!

Hope this helps some :)

Hello, Denise1234! So glad you got to see this sadly overlooked gem from an era that produced a lot of them.

Thanks for the song selection. "That's Enough for Me" by the diminutive genius Paul Williams is coming back to me now; I'm pretty sure it plays during a love scene. Too bad it's not listed in the soundtrack credits here. I have it on Paul's "Just an Old-Fashioned Love Song" LP. I also have Cat Steven's "Izitso" on vinyl; seems like I had an 8-track of that at one point.

I don't remember those two classical songs, but I'm pretty bad with the classics (except for classic rock).

Thanks again!

Hello Warped Record,
Just to let you know, their was an instrumental soundtrack that was scrapped in favor of a contemporary songs compilation soundtrack. It was composed by the late great John Barry and can be found on CD for a limited time thru FSM Film Score Monthly. Screen archives Entertainment has it for $19.99 currently.
Hope this helps. Cheers!
