Worst line ever! How?

"I was possesed by a demon...oh but don't worry he's gone".

W.H.A T? How in the name of common sense did that line make the final cut? How did it make it past the script pages? To that extent how was it conceived and why in the first place?

That's sleep deprivation writing there.

There is absolutely no way in hell it ever would have flown no matter the tone nor......anything. It was a stupid line. Neither Meryl Streep or Tarantino would manage to save that line.

What was running through the cast and crew's brains while shooting this? You have to wonder hahaha.

"Well hot damn." -L. W.

How about "Your machine has proved scientifically that there's an ancient demon locked within her"?

I wish I could know if these horrible lines came from original screenwriter William Goodhart or if they were added on the spot by John Boorman and his pal Rospo Pallenberg.

reply

Omg, I watched this for the first time last night and I heard this and couldn’t believe it. I love many bad movies but this is really bad. In fact, it’s probably the worst big budget with solid actors film I’ve ever seen.

reply

Classic case of too much information. Lol

If they cut every cringeworthy line from this movie out, you'd have about 30 minutes of material left.

Although to me, the most ridiculous line in the entire film (albeit one with a lot of competition for the title) is Richard Burton telling Ned Beatty how "I've flown this route before on the wings of the demon."

reply

Yeah that's definitively the most cringe-worthy line... -_-'

People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs

reply

I didn't think it was that bad but I'm perhaps the number-one fan of this movie so nothing about it is bad to me.

What?!?!

My favorite most ridiculous exchange:
Lamont: "Have you tried talking to a priest? Or a psychologist?"
Sharon: "I'm talking to one now, aren't I??"

reply

Yes, and poor, poor Shar doesn't yet realize that Lamont is a wholly useless priest, selfishly introverted on the theological/salvation problems that, apparently, cause him to sweat buckets through most of the film. He is of no help at all to Sharon, he rejects her pleading, but then he sanctimoniously goes into Regan's former room and kneels in prayer. What a jerk.

The context is key. She was talking to a young girl. It made perfect sense for that moment; didn't sound corny or inappropriate. Now, taken out of context, that might be a different story...

reply

No offense but I disagree.

reply

I agree about context but, even in context, it’s pretty funny.

reply

she was talking to a little girl dumbass

reply

"she was talking to a little girl dumbass"

Yet another reason it was a stupid line. Thank you for helping prove my point.

reply

I didn't think it was a bad line; certainly not the "worst line" in the film.
