Childhood nightmares...

...I've got from this. I think I watched it when I was 5 or 6 - way too young. The only things that occurred to me watching it again is if any of the ants got hurt during production and how silly people dressed during that period. Some old-time boats/yachts for the boat interested though. But the movie sure is a stinker.

To me it wasn't too bad, but I mean not great. It was made by American International so you can't expect stellar work. I saw this movie when I was in my teen over 10 years ago. It gave me the creeps, but also have me a laugh or two. This movie to me was far better than "Kingdom of the Spiders" starring William Shatner. Both movies were released in 1977.

I love this movie. I can't see myself ever being afraid of it, not even when I was a little kid, but I love it anyways. It is one of my favorite movies ever made.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

I imagine it varies from person to person. Certainly there were enough monster movies round that time, The Swarm, Empire of the Ants, Kingdom of the Spiders, etc. to give kids nightmares. I think KOTS gave me a few nightmares at the time, though I don't recall if EOTA gave me some too. I would have been around 6.5 the summer of 1977 as well. At that age who knows what will give someone nightmares or not.
