Paul Williams

Just had to give cheers to Mr. Williams. He's awesome and I really don't see how the music for this could've been any more perfect. His lyrics go from witty and clever to quaint and serene. With a purty girl dancin' to jug-band music ...

He wrote some great music for Phantom of the Paradise as well. Quite a talent!

The war is not meant to be won... it is meant to be continuous.

He really knows how to yank on your heart-strings! I discovered this show when I was 10 years old and cried when I heard the song, "When the River Meets the Sea." My mom was watching it with me and said that my sister cried when Frosty the Snowman melted! I discovered Phantom of the Paradise in the 1990's and cried when I heard the song, "Old Souls".

There's was something strange about the song, "Welcome to Our World" (or whatever the song was called). There is a verse that goes, "Some say our world is getting too small, but I say with kindness there's room for us all." I guess he didn't believe what the "doom and gloom" scientists were saying about the world coming to an end and running out of food. I noticed the same thing about the Pete's Dragon song, "There's Room for Everyone in This World". They both came out in 1977.

I have "Emmet Otter", "Phantom of the paradise" on dvd, but Pete's Dragon is still on VHS.

According to the DVD version of The Muppet show, Paul Williams doesn't know how to play the piano, but he's seen sitting at one in The Muppet Show and The Muppet Movie. The DVD version has trivia about the guest stars in the 1st season only. Bummer!
