I wondered why there were no comments...
... until I saw the movie.
Perhaps with the exception of Claude Chabrol, I avoid older movies with older fade-to-black techniques. However, I watched "The Last Metro" with this same younger and slimmer - and now Russian - Depardieu, and despite its age, I rather enjoyed it. I hoped to have the same success with "Dites-lui que je l'aime".
I think not.
Someone compared it to a Lifetime Movie. If I was a Lifetime movie, I'd be miffed. If I was Paul Anka, I'd be miffed that one of my songs was associated with this mess. Depardieu's acting is so over-the-top that any relationship is not believable. Neither are the all-too-pat circumstances and predictable events.
Take a pass on this one. Tune into the Lifetime Channel. Or McMillan and Wife.
