what a pile of crap

i swear religion was invented to keep people under control and this is the ultimate example of that. If Christianity was looking to expand its base, they should have done all they could to keep this one under wraps.

and some of the most horrible acting ive ever seen.....

reply

Well as long as you weren't subjected to it as a young child, I'd say you're very fortunate.

I was 'subjected' to it as a child and I loved it. Now I'm 25 and can't wait to share it with my family and Sunday school kids. As far as the original poster's comment about it being a 'pile of crap', sorry you feel that way but thanks for taking the time to comment on it.

reply

You want toshare it with kids??? What kind of a$$hole would do that? I hope you reconsider. Okay so maybe YOU loved it but perhaps you're not of a more sensitive nature. Think of the viewers and the many people like me who grew up damaged and scared because of this film and because of similar rapture-focused movies and people.

reply

Yes I do want to share it with kids. It's something that is part of our beliefs and is in the bible so it puts a picture to what we read. I'm sorry you feel damaged and scared because of this film but not everyone reacted the way you did. That's not being insensitive at all, unless you consider hurling expletives at someone as you did in your comment being 'sensitive'.

reply

I don't want to be sensitive towards anyone who wants to show this nightmare to children. IT IS NOT A KIDS MOVIE. I bet you wouldn't let preteens watch a secular M-rated movie, there's no diff as far as I'm concerned. What would you be trying to achieve by showing this film? You can't frighten people into salvation, try teaching God's love before you screw anyone up beyond all belief.
Too much fear gets pushed on people in churches (ie child abuse) and it disgusts me.

reply

Again, I'm very sorry you had a terrible experience with this film. I watched the film at a very young age and it left in impression on me for the positive. It gave a visual representation of what I was reading in my Bible. I've already showned it to my 10 year old sister and its open up lots of questions from her about our beliefs and what's in the Bible. Is it scary? Yes, and so's are a lot of things in the Bible which is reflective of life in general. I agree, it's not a kids movie. I also agree that it shouldn't be shown to kids to 'scare them' in to salvation. However I would disagree with anyone who argues that this film has no value and should not be shown.

reply

What would be the minimum age of a child you're planning on showing this film to?

reply

I'm more inclined to judge their maturity level and capacity to understand the themes that come up in the film. My sunday school kids are from 8-11. Most of my 10 and 11 year olds are able to see something like this and explore/discuss the themes and their relationship to their Bibles.

reply

You're either a poe or just a bit demented. I was forced to watch this at 10 years old and wasn't able to sleep for two days. Go read your bible and have fun with your whole deception. But scarring kids with this garbage is mental child abuse.

reply

omg...8-11 is way too young. And I agree with the poster above me. Seriously man, you are not thinking clearly if you think this film is ok for children!!! People go to the blood-stained guillotine. There's vanishings, mass destruction, nightmarish screaming and the feeling that everyone around you might vanish or persecute you at any time. It's HORRIBLE. What, you think stuff like that is a good Sunday School theme?

reply

8-11 is too young to see this movie, but what about the secular movies they show today? I know for a fact that 8-11 year old see movies that are worse than this. You really dont see anything gorey, not like these slasher movies where you actually see someone get their head cut off.

reply

8 YEAR OLDS??????????? ARE YOU INSANE??????????????????? And you are sitting here being snarky and prideful like it is glorifying to God to do this to small children? TAKE A STEP BACK DUDE. You show that to my kid in sunday school and this Christian Mom would bring down some fire on you. You DO NOT show children a movie that has violent scenes such as the guillotine scene with screaming like that. IT PROMOTES THE SAME FEAR AS A HORROR FILM. Are you completely insane? Teaching children is one thing. Turning it into a visual horro/suspense film for them WHEN THEY ARE TOO YOUNG is horrible. YOU ARE NOT THE JUDGE OF WHAT ANOTHER 8 YEAR OLD CAN HANDLE.

reply

You obviously havent read the Bible. It says the fear of God is the Beginning of Knowledge.

People need to be told the truth instead of making people think if your nice that's your gateway to Heaven.

Here is the problem.... You don't know what will affect a child until the damage has been done SO BE SAFER THAN SORRY AND WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE OLDER.

What's the name of the sequel.
If you find yourself, it's probably a doppleganger

reply

I am a pastor's daughter and professing christian but the WORST thing my parent's did was subject me to this movie as a child. I had traumatizing nightmares and was always scared. Children need to feel secure and DO NOT need something else making their imaginations go insane. PLEASE CONSIDER A CHILD UNDEVELOPED SENSE TO RATIONALIZE AND REASON before you show this to them.

reply

Well, hatred towards Christians is increasing today like never before, so it is not hard to see that the events in this series will be taking place soon. And Jesus Himself made clear that Christians would be hated and persecuted. Oddly, it seems that those who are opossesd to Christianity are sometimes better at proving it to be true than even some professing Christians in our day.

We don't see constant persecution of Hindu's or any other religious people, but there is obviously a world wide hatred of Christians.

And by the way, Christianity is not a religion...it is simply a relationship with God. That is not something that can be forced on anyone, so it is not a matter of controling anyone.

you apparently don't read the news all that often; people of all faiths throughout the world are being oppressed. this "obvious" worldwide hatred, is it meant to be hyperbole? throughout types of popular media in the western world there can be obvious biases against christianity; i haven't seen a movie since the omen that doesn't use christians as anything but dogmatic nutjobs, a one-dimensional cut-out used as a plot device. and yeah, when the average person says they hate "religion" they really mean christianity; naturally, people on both sides of these kinds of arguments are as narrow-minded as you.

reply

I seriously cannot believe all the whiny pussies that complain about it scarring their childhood. What a load of #$#!$. There are children that go through much worse than some Christian fundamentalist movie. Grow a sack and shut up. If you hate religion so much, why are you even on these boards you friggin jaggoffs?

Horrible film to show kids!
