How do you think the movie would have changed had Divine been available to play the part? Better? Worse? I think Susan Lowe was GREAT as Mole, but somehow I've always wanted to see Divine play it.

I'm an enormous fan of Divine, but in my eyes, Susan Lowe was born to play Mole McHenry. Every line she delivers just seems so right.

It would have become another Divine vehicle if Divine had starred. I always enjoyed Divine's performances in John Waters' movies, but this one gives others the chance to play leads. I also think Susan Lowe was absolutely perfect as Mole!

The lack of Divine lets Mink Stole and crew shine all that much brighter.
The only part Divine could have played without stealing the show is Muffy St Jaques, and she would have been far better than Liz Renay.
Yeah, i know it's been a while for a response but I wonder the same thing every time I watch this. As a standalone sans Devine film i think it's excellent. Not to put down Devine but i think Devine didn't really have a place in this movie.

I agree with the poster who opined Divine would have been better as Muffy, not as compared to Liz Renay, who did a great job, but if Divine were available and Liz Renay was not, then Muffy would have been a better character for him. When Muffy gushes over the gifts Mole bought for her, it reminds me of Dawn Davenport gushing when she thinks she's getting Cha-Cha heels.
