Greed at it's finest ....

LOL !

I mean really. First they (mustache man & exploited wet tee shirt woman) are essentially threatened by a glass loving 'basketball player' looking french/haitian guy. Then they are treated like land loving criminals by the orca's 'captain quint' from Jaws who steals their morphine and throws them back out onto the cruel streets of the bahamas. Only to be run of the road on their mopeds and kidnapped by the haitian guy's voodoo basketball team where they are stripped and held at knife point. And as if that isn't enough, they go back to captain quint to play lets make a deal. Mustache man goes diving with the peculiar captain quint, who he doesn't even know, which leaves wet tee shirt woman back at the hotel as prey for the voodoo guys to work their magic on. Game on! lol

Then they crack the code. Figure out that not only morphine is in the shipwreck but a kings treasure is mingled in as well. Amongst the many treasurely trinkets is a golden dragon worn by a virgin duchess. Instead of going home after being threatened, kidnapped, and molested with a bloody chicken foot ... they're gonna go for it! Yeah .... ! Whew, I hope these two really need the money and they're not just doin this for kicks!

But all is well even after captain quint's lover's neck is snapped, eli wallach is blown to bits with all the morphine (so I imagine it was painless), and the voodoo basketball team suffers defeat in the 4th. They snag that golden dragon out of thin air (literally) and it's all smiles .... Happy Ending!

I really did love this movie. I loved it 30yrs ago and it was just as great tonight when I saw again on 'free movies' OnDemand. I just didn't realize how greedy these people were when I was 12yr old. It's nice to see that that kind of greed goes way back ... It's not just a new thing.

Reminds me of a quote from a film I just saw recently:

Wait’ll you see gold in the pan for the first time - so rich and yellow-like. Wait’ll you see it. It does something to you. Drives a man crazy.
