The Orca


I swear the boat owned by Shaws character is the same as the boat he owned in Jaws( The Orca).Or maybe Im wrong ,still they look very similar!!!!

It wasn't the same boat, but it was very similar. The vessel featured in The Deep was called "CORSAIR," and was very likely of the same make (39' Elco?) as the one specifically customised for use in the Spielberg movie.

It is my impression that producers had deliberately sourced a boat similar to ORCA, to make their new "Benchley" film as close to JAWS as possible, hence added sharks and the monster eel in the movie. For example, spot the scene, about a third of the way through, in which Treece shows Coffin ("So the old girl has finally lost her virginity") the morphine ampule. In the background it appears that locals have caught a shark, and have hoisted it up for public display. Doesn't this look similar to that very telling scene in the Spielberg movie where Hooper informs Brody, "They caught A-shark... The fact is that the bite radius on this animal is different than the wounds of the victim."?
