3 Hour version Laserdisc

There is a 3 hour version laserdisc version listed in the Laserdisc section of This film. I never heard of it being released on laserdisc, much less the complete version

Can somebody help me with this?

Looks like there aren't many laser fans left. I however still have my player and love it. If you ever find out about The Deep being uncut on laser, let me know please!

I do recall hearing about it many years ago as i was a laserdisc collector also. I know Columbia/Tri Star already had released the film on laserdisc a couple of times before that, a pan and scan version, and a 1991 Pioneer Special Edition in widescreen. They had been planning on releasing an extended version of the film, in widescreen, on laserdisc in 1995. Those plans, however, were cancelled. I didn't know the actual reason for the cancellation until recently when i located a review of the 1991 laserdisc release. Apparently, Jacqueline Bisset filed a lawsuit against Columbia Pictures when she discovered the extended cut would include additional shots of her body, presumably nude. As a result of the lawsuit, Columbia cancelled their plans for an extended cut of the film. The review of the 1991 laserdisc release can be found here:

Jacqueline had a great body. I don't know why she wouldn't want her fans to see it.

Maybe she was scared of being exploited. Look at this:
