Possibly the wost movie ever made?

Just terrible...

reply

Terrible, but not "the worst." Ever seen "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle?"

"As god as my witness... I thought turkeys could fly."

reply

I've seen much worse. My sister came home one night with a copy of what we believed was the movie starring Scarlett Johannsen (or however it's spelled) named the Black Dahlia. Unfortunately for my girlfriend, my sister, and I, it was not. It was an indie film by someone named Ulla, called The Black Dahlia. It was so horrible, it was hilarious. We had an MST3K night that night. There was even a guy randomly dressed in baseball uniform pants, a t shirt, and a batting helmet with a faceguard who killed people. Probably the funniest part about that was that he looked a lot like Mark McGwire.

A worse movie in the same 'apocalyptic' category is Cherry 2000 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092746/) where Melanie Griffith plays a 'tough guy mechanics'. Hah ! The story is inept and confused. The effects are ridiculous (dropping cars from a crane as a mode of transit). And Melany Griffith's squeaky voice gets on my nerve even more than Jodie Foster's acting. I just wanted the guy to get his robot wife back and boot Griffith back to her trailer !

reply

Sorry, but the worst movie ever made was "Kingdom of the Spiders"

Omg, Are you crazy, Harold and Kumar is freakin' funny. It's a comedy. Yes, the plot might not be much, they're searching for a white castle so they can eat cause they're smoked out of their mind but it's a weed movie and you stiff have to have some understanding seeing that you never puffed a smoke in your life.

reply

The fact that the guy might never have puffed a smoke of weed in his life discounts his opinion that Harold and Kumar sucked? Dude, it ain't saying much when you need to smoke a joint in order to enjoy or appreciate a movie. Perhaps you need to find a Weed Forum, where your opinions are shared with its readers.

Oh, btw. I have "puffed a smoke" or two in my life. Harold and Kumar sucks a$$.

No.

It's a bad movie, particularly given the budget (I'd always thought it was a low-budget cheapie), but it's not even close to the average Uwe Boll crap-fest.

reply

the wost movie ??

:)

How do you judge this as being the 'wost' movie ??

It was a '70s sci-fi film, low budget, and an era when sci-fi films weren't exactly known to have top visual effects (until 20th Century Fox released at near the same time 'Star Wars')

The film is a cult fave for those teens who were around at that the time - such as myself.

For me - its just another 70s film that I would like to catch up again - just to see how they were able to get away with a tight budget and special effects. It's definitely NO classic - but pure '70s kitsch !!!

reply

I was 16 when this movie came out. I still don't know how or why my buddies and I sat through the whole thing! Even back then we knew it sucked!

reply

Yeah, I normally seek out bulletins about 30-year old movies that sucked so I can comment on them.

reply

The unfortunate thing is, this movie was not a "low budget" film... it cost nearly TWICE as much as "Star Wars" to make.

"As god as my witness... I thought turkeys could fly."

reply

I still don't understand what they spent it on. Did the cockroaches charge $500 an hour or something?

reply

LOL!! @ rangerzep83

I want to see the version of the Black Dahlia you saw. Killer Baseballers? Sign me up!

You must have not seen very many films. Every Troma film is worse than Damnation Alley.

"Every Troma film is worse than Damnation Alley."

'Tromeo and Juliet' and 'Citizen Toxie' are better... otherwise I generally agree :).

reply

I was 10 when I first saw this movie at the theatre. For years I remembered liking it. Upon seeing the movie a few years ago, I realize how awful it was. I think I mostly like the vehicle at the time.

reply

this film dont suck...its classic 70s sci fi...infact it should be remade and im off to that thread to cast my vote...anyone that dont see the potential in this film sucks and has no clue about film.

reply

The only way for someone to HONESTLY declare the "worst movie ever made" - they would have to have literally SEEN every movie ever made, which is not really possible, and then, of course, it would only be the one opinion.

It is honest, I suppose, to declare "worst movie I have ever seen", but that is still only one idea of millions of equally valid ideas.

Symbolically, I see cheesy movies like this as a sort of "gift" from someone who isn't quite all there, but is still a better friend than some.

reply

really, everyone has equally valid ideas. so, hamas, hezebbella. holocoust, gulags of stalins russia and solar stars cambodia. would they all have equally valid ideas? I hate social construts people!!!

I think the movie would have been loads better if they'd simply followed the BOOK.

I mean, Yeah, it was a Post apocalyptic cross country journey in an armored vehicle and had a guy named Tanner.. But otherwise it shares NOTHING with the book.

Could definitely use a Remake or Reboot or whatever term we use nowadays.
(I'd recommend against the Giant Mutant Animal stuff, though.. Everyone knows today that the Radiation from Nuclear blasts make DEAD Animals, not Bigger Uglier animals...

reply

This film is FAR from being the worse. Have you seen any of the recent remakes lately?

reply

dead end road is the worst movie i have ever seen, check it out on imdb. I think it has 2.2 on 10.

reply

You are so right. It's absolutely dreadful. It's so hard to believe it came out the same year as Star Wars and the special effects look worse than anything on any episode of even the earliest Star Trek. Beyond that, there's just no story. It's one episode of peril of one sort after another and little more. I just finally saw it after 30 years for the first time (found an Asian DVD [in English] on eBay). I mainly got it after enjoying Dominique Sanda in The Garden of the Finzi-Continis. I like sci-fi, but this wasn't even bad enough to be good.

Who says this movie had a bigger/or twice the budget of Star Wars? How could that even remotely be possible?

Even the miniature work on Lost in Space (the chariot, etc.) was better than what we saw here. It was the 70s. I believe someone snorted the budget up their nose if that truly is the case. Planet of the Apes and everything else made around that time looks much better than this. This is more like Battle Beyond the Stars or Laserblast, but even then not as well made.

And again, there's just no story here. Big freaking whoop, and then all tied up with a happy ending. I'm sure the book is much better.

reply

If you look at the trivia for Damnation Alley, it says that the landmaster was 300K alone to create. Howevever, the entire movie had a budget of 17 million. I have no idea where the other 17,700,000 came from though. Star Wars had a budget of 8 million.

reply

Star Wars had a budget of $11m not $8m. But, the point is still valid. Where the hell did all that money go? The effects were laughable and felt like a B movie.
