Unofficial sequel?

TRIVIA: In the closing scenes the next film Confessions of a Plumber's Mate is signposted by the dialogue. However the Confessions series was terminated following poor takings for Holiday Camp

It is a coincidence that "Adventures of a Plumber's Mate" was released the following year, albeit with a completely different cast and crew?

The nearest thing to an actual sequel was probably "Rosie Dixon - Night Nurse"; same producers, same writer, and some supporting cast (including Liz Frazer ) from the "Confessions" series.

Stanley Long, the man behind the rip-off 'Adventures' series, saw the press stories that 'Confessions of a Plumbers Mate' had been cancelled, and immediately shelved the next film in his own series ('Adventures of a Roving Reporter') to cash in on the publicity, hoping to attract the 'Confessions' audiences to his series. It didn't work.

According to Stanley Long's autobiography, he came up with the idea of "Plumber's Mate" completely independently of the "Confessions" franchise. After several threatening letters from Columbia's lawyers, he went ahead with the project, and it was one of the most successful of the "Adventures" series. Incidentally, it wasn't the last he heard from the law, as Elaine Page got her legal knickers in a twist over her appearences in the film's publicity.
