Cinema Listings 1966-1974 (late night/horror Pt1).

Alongside the sex cinema audience, there also existed an audience dedicated to searching out horror double-bills and other offbeat cinematic experiences. The quest for which, in a pre-Video, pre-DVD era, required the far more demanding task of trekking to fleapit cinemas at obscure hours. This audience was especially courted by the Classic Cinema chain who ran most of the cinemas listed here. Of course its somewhat naïve to think that watching films was the only offbeat experience denizens of late night cinemas were looking for. One London cinema (not listed here) which showed horror double-bills at exceptionally low prices was in fact a well known gay meeting spot, in which what was being projected on the big screen was probably the last thing on patrons minds.
