Spielberg coming out with another "Special Edition"

Variety writes that Steven Spielberg has said he is disappointed with his Director's Cut version of Close Encounters and wants to come out with another edition that "combines the best of the first three versions but to layer it even further." Richard Dreyfus, Melinda Dillion, and Cary Guffy will shoot new scenes using CGI de-aging as was used in Martin Scorsese's The Irishman. Spielberg also wanted to augment the role of Lacombe played by François Truffaut. However, since Truffaut is already deceased, his estate had to give Spielberg permission to use a CGI likeness of him. Voice actors who can do uncanny impressions of Truffaut are currently being sought. The most explosive new hint about the new edition is that Roy Neery will once again go into the Mothership as in the 1980 Special Edition. CGI space aliens will be seen with ethereal bodies. They will use an anal probe on Roy, but Spielberg says he won't be using it as an instrument of terror. Spielberg says "We all know the anal probe stuff, but I didn't want it to be something scary that would frighten children and anger parents. I wanted it to be almost an erotic experience--Roy's cosmic orgasm!" Shooting will begin in February 2022 and is scheduled to be released in December of that year in time for its 45th anniversary.

I find it distasteful to do a CGI animated version of Truffaut. Even if they could make it look 100% real, it's a form of necrophilia!

There ought to be a law against it!! I'm sure Truffaut's estate got compensated handsomely, but it would be a little like getting money from someone who wants to open the graves of your relatives.
