Dear Dayle2 & Satriani78

The only thing that you can do is to write to Universal Studios and ask if they are planning to release it on DVD.Of course,it doesn't hurt to request it either. If enough letters come in,they just might release it.You never know.

Universal Studios would be the only ones to contact because they did release the movie initially in theatres w/Lorimar as co-distributor.They also initially released it onto VHS.I still have my original MCA/Universal VHS copy and it is still in new condition.I also have the soundtrack album that was released on MCA Records.

Just a suggestion.Sincerely Frank R.Schoonover

Generally, there are only 2 reasons why a movie that was in major theatrical release hasn't made it to DVD:

1) the holder of the music rights won't give their consent.

2) The movie stinks so badly that a DVD release would expose the copyright holder to ridicule.

Hmmm, I wonder which one applies in this case...

Here is a hint. It ain't reason number 2. The Choirboys was hilarious.

Never argue with an idiot, they always bring you down to their level.

I wish I could see it again. But at least they can't steal my memories from me!

A DVD or stealing his memories?

In many ways it was quite distasteful, but I did find many scenes very funny even if cliched. Yes there are many stereotypes (the gay guy in the park for a major one) but I am gay and found this so outrageous that it was funny. It had gross humor and Phyllis Davis can whip me anytime in that outfit gay or not. But if I had written a book and it turned out like this I can understand Wambaugh being upset. But on a certain level it does have some funny moments. It should be on DVD. The scene alone where the cop is trying to talk the suicide victim out of jumping is hilarious and quite dark humor. It is not for everyone but I always liked this movie.

I have the VHS (that I had purchased for a $1 at Goodwill) and recently re-watched it after reading the comments listed here. I didn't really find the suicide victim scene that funny myself, but the one where the two cops are beaten up by the tenement dwellers and thrown down the stairs, then when other police officers show up they all run back into their apartments acting like they don't know what happened...that was pretty funny.

You are right, it does have its moments.

Does anyone know where to find the UNCUT version of THE CHOIRBOYS?
