Terrible

A lot of good talent wasted.

Yeah-today it looks like that, but 33 yrs. ago a lot of people loved it. I just watched it again on tv cause i remember it was funny-or thought so at the time. Doesn't work today!!

I have not failed, I've found 10,000 ways that won't work.

You're probably right about that. I probably would have liked it in '76, myself. I was 27 then. When I think of some of the films that I thought were good 20 and 30 and 40 years ago, I can't help but laugh. Same goes for what most of the American public ( sheeple ) thinks is good nowadays. I not only laugh, but it almost scares me to realize what is popular. I don't go to the movies very much anymore. I just keep building my library. I did go to see ' A Serious Man ' for the second time tonight, though. Just a brilliant piece of work. Maybe, the best thing the Coen brothers have ever done, except for maybe ' Blood Simple '. Definitely a future member of my library. However, it probably wouldn't be appreciated by anyone who is not either Jewish or doesn't have any knowledge of the Jewish culture.

You can say the same thing about the tv shows back then as well. Happy Days or Laverne and Shirley. Big hits then, but almost impossible to sit thru today.

Ugh! and how. I checked out this film because I LOVE the director's work, I also have a blue collar job where immature antics are somewhat common, add a personal penchant for black comedy and this sounded right up my ally. God do I regret the decision of picking up this juvennile, mean spirited, distasteful, ham-handed, vulgar, senseless, wittless, nasty, filthy, vile, hatefull mess of a movie. The thought of a director of this stature assembling a cast this awesome and the end result is a Judd Apatow movie thirty years before Judd Apatow. What a waste.

The whole time I watched it, I kept thinking, "Imagine how good this could have been in the hands of Robert Altman".
