Upcoming Bröderna Lejonhjärta remake

I have heard that there may be secret plans to do a modern version of Astrid Lindgren’s Bröderna Lejonhjärta. With an international cast. Perhaps shot in Canada and with a mixture of Scandinavian and Brittish actors. I can’t tell you more, because:
A) I’m not allowed too
b) I don’t know more about it.

I can say that I want to play a small small role in it, maybe as one of the villagers or some of the knights. This year, I’ve already played a Greek slave and a soldier from ancient Rome. I like old times, so I hope I will be cast in this. I have talked some with one of the people who want to do this project.
I would like to see Jamie Bell as Jonatan. It would RULE everything then!!

Really? I haven´t heard that and I live in Sweden where Astrid Lindgren also lived, if they going to remake any of her films it going to be á great fuss here in Sweden.

Sure Putte, Sure.

NO WAY.

I happened to look at your post history and you have like twenty something of these posts.

There is only one Jonatan, and that is Staffan Götestam.

*LOL* Ok, well I personally wasn't too fond of Staffan, as I 've written in another BL-topic, but still: Why not make a remake - as long as it's well done and well played I'm fine. Mio my Mio was a total disaster though, so I can understand Swedes that get edgy when overseas remake versions are coming up as a possible project. *smile*

Let Lasse Hallström do the directing, he'd probably do a fine casting - and please let Jonathan be a 13 old this time, as he is in the book and not a grown up trying to be a kid. After a huge amouont of adult s trying to be Pippi Longstocking on stage I really YEARN for a Jonathan in the right age.

I wonder though if ever my heart can accept another Karl/Skorpan ... I think Lasse Söderdahl was remarkable.

I loved Staffan Götestam's performance, and I preferred the older Jonathan. I don't think he was supposed to be that much older than he was in the book, maybe 15 or 16. Even as a child I never bought that they put the fate of the entire resistance group on a 13 year-old's shoulders. A Jonathan who is a few years older makes more sense. And it made for a greater dynamic between the brothers.

As for a remake... I would be all for it if it was more or less the same script only in English. An English version would be interesting to see.

Regarding an Englsish version: It certainly would!

Hm, let me ask you and all the other fellows out there: What cast list would you prefer if you were in charge of casting an english remake? *interested*

Regarding Staffan Götestam and Jonatan: Glad you liked him, there's no point in argueing about taste, I just don'thappen to fancy him and his acting. Well maybe I wouldn't put the fate pf the resistance on a 13 year old, either, but still: You see that daily in the world: Children in arms. The average US Vietnamsoldier wasn't that old either I reccon. I also believe that is a very "adultish" way of looking at it - I don't think a child would mind letting a 13year old be the hero getting things done in a story written for children.

David Gallagher as Jonatan?
Rory Culkin as Skorpan, but he will soon be too old for that role.
Peter Stormare as Tengil or Jussi
Max von Sydow as Mattias
Stellan Skarsgård as Orvar or Hubert

Ops, it went out to be a Swedish cast anyway, hehe. Well perhaps we should go with Anastasios Soulis as Jonatan?

reply

I like your castlist but I think David Gallagher is too old for Jonatan. I think it looked pretty good with a Jonatan that looked moore like 15, 16 instead of 13.

reply

Yeah! Anastasios Soulis would be great as Jonatan!!

I didn't know it was gonna be remade. Has it been remade by now?

It hasn't, and I doubt it will be either.

Glad to know it hasn't. I also doubt it will be remade, but still I hope they won't do it. The fact that this movie was a success in Sweden but not outside has a bright side: that way, chances of it being remade are less than good - which I welcome.
