So many flaws in logic

There are so many flaws in logic, I don't have time to mention them all. One big one to me is someone saying "we can't shoot it down, it's full of helium". So the trade off is letting them set it off over the super bowl. In a real situation, the logic would be to limit the damage. Great movie but someone did not think out several things.

They knew the Super Bowl was going to be attacked and they checked every inch of the stadium. Yet the Good Year blimp was left unguarded.

TAG LINE: True genius is a beautiful thing, but ignorance is ugly to the bone.

The idea of not inspecting the blimp foreshadows real life. Used to be able to carry knives on planes and take flying lessons while skipping the landing instruction

How much more security could the blimp have had? They checked everyone's I.D. Once the blimp took off there would have been no reason for security to remain as there was no expectations of it returning to the field during the Super Bowl.

What difference would it make if the blimp was guarded or inspected? That would have had zero effect on the scenario presented in the story. Bruce Dern didn't have to sneak on to the blimp, he scammed his way aboard in plain sight. And the bomb was installed well after he took off.

During the preparations a no fly zone around the stadium was mentioned. From that you'd know in the fictional universe there were more than adequate resources to counter any violations. A weak climax mostly as a result of this....

No, that's not the biggest gap in logic. The biggest gap in logic is the location of the stadium (the long gone Orange Bowl) and its distance from the Atlantic. It's not that it's all that far away, but it would have taken a certain amount of time to pull it even that distance, certainly much longer than the film suggests. So, how long would it take for a single helicopter to haul a blimp from the stadium area to out over the Atlantic? And how long was this fuse set for - half hour, 45 minutes, an hour? This seems to undercut the suspense a bit, doesn't it? Anyway, wouldn't they have first pulled the blimp to a higher altitude to minimize the damage of the explosion in case they didn't make it to the ocean? They didn't know about the hunting darts did they?
