Fasils's gun--What type and caliber??

In the scene where Marthe Keller's partner(and lover, I presume) Faisil is trying to escape from that hotel, he starts shooting his way through anyone who hinders him, killing 6 people before finally being killed by Shaw.. I am just curious: Does anyone have any idea of the gun he used?? I do NOT claim to be very knowledgable on firearms, but to me it looked like probably a 9MM. or .357 or something. It was definitely a revolver. It appeared to be too powerful to be a .45 or .38 (maybe I am wrong about this) as Faisil shot easily through a car windshield with it and killed its driver. It did NOT look like a .44 though, as he handled it too easily.

I'm guessing a .357 revolver -- or at least that's what the actor was trying to convey with the big backswing/recoil move after every shot.

A 45 and 38 special is much bigger than a 9mm. Really, it's hard to tell what caliber the gun is for a number of reasons. Since this is Hollywood, the power the gun/destruction of projectile are all special effects.

If I remember the scene correctly, it is safe to say that it is a snub nosed revolver. Again, what caliber is difficult. The 38 is a popular caliber for the snub nose design though. Nice punch but not to powerful for such a small gun.

That looked very much like a Smith & Wesson K-Frame .357 or .44 with a 3" or 4" barrel. Not sure of the exact model. Excellent weapons, and very powerful.

It's most likely a Model 19 or a Model 27 .357 magnum. I would go with a 27 based on what I saw. I've got one with a 8 3/8" barrel.

Smith & Wesson Model 28 "Highway Patrolman" in .357. Clearly larger than K frame, and others who spend more time pausing movies say (on movie gun discussions) it's a 28. I believe it as it doesn't seem quite shiny enough to be a 27, plus looks like a common configuration, barrel length, etc, for the (very common in this era) Model 28.

Definitely an N-frame; most likely a Model 28 Highway Patrolman. I thought the use of the Dade speedloaders was a very nice touch as well.

IMFDB.com has it as an S&W Model 28 in .357 magnum. The 4" barrel length shown on the stock image of the pistol looks to be about the same length as in the screenshots from the film.

I do not know guns well enough to argue whether it is or isn't. Looks pretty much the same to my eyes and the folks who use the site seem in agreement. That's also a pretty awesome reference site to kill some time on.
