They’re in the motel room and Tanner is glued to the tv watching Knute Rockne and the Win one for the Gipper speech. When Kelly walks in and sits down he concentrated on watching Tanner’s reaction. I think he really understood Tanner in that moment for the passion he has and not the racist wise ass little punk. Very endearing scene
