Anybody See the Sneak Preview Version (Original Cut)?

First heard of this movie in a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times for a sneak preview. I recall the rating being “R”.

Months later, just as it went into wide release, an article in the Times appeared with the title, “Editing Saves Audrey Rose.” I recall specific mention of shots attempting to add levity, including one specific mention of Audrey picking up a copy of the novel “The Exorcist.”

I am not delusional, but I have never been able to uncover evidence of any of this. Searching microfilm of the Times years ago, I never found:

1) The one-page for the sneak preview
2) The article with the mentioned title
3) Any evidence of an original “R” rating

It ispossible one or more of these print items appeared in a San Diego paper, since I lived in that city at the time. But it’s doubtful because we didn’t get anything but the Times, and that’s where all the big movie ads and articles appeared.
