No one has ever died as a result of being hypnotized.

Did the author even researched about Age Regression-Hypnosis?
This is how I wished the movie had been. During the second half, there should've been a mystery if Ivy was the reincarnation of Audrey Rose and in the last scene you find out the truth. If the hypnotist was able to bring Ivy back beyond her birth, it would supposedly prove that she was Audrey Rose in a previous life. She wouldn't have to die for this to be proved.

It really bothered me how the author described Audrey in the last chapters of the novel, as if she were an evil spirit possessing Ivy's body. Totally absurd
if you believe in reincarnation. And the whole thing about Audrey's soul returning to soon, trying to kill Ivy, seeking to escape this earth life was ridiculous. Not once did the author lead the reader toward a suspension of disbelief. I wish someone could rewrite this incredible story in a different perspective.

I found a review on Amazon that is similar to yours and I absolutely agree with this person, too.

"I like reincarnation stories and the like, but after trying to get through Audrey Rose twice, I gave up. I think the thing that bothered me was the author's attempt to convince the reader that reincarnation is true--he cites various religious books from around the world.

In my opinion, a fiction writer should lead the reader toward a suspension of disbelief, not beat him over the head with facts and arguments. Little clues should add up that allow the reader to get lost in the story.

I loved the "Exorcist" and "RoseMary's Baby," but Audrey Rose just did not work for me."

You shouldn't put spoilers in your subject line!

I was wondering why Audrey died in the end. The most logical explanation would be that she died of fright, although even that would have been a bit far fetched.

The point is, surely, that Ivy is an example of a re-incarnated soul at odds with it's new existence. Ivy dies because her soul is the reincarnation of Audrey Rose, but Audrey Rose cannot accept her own re-birth because, as Hoover says, she was reborn too soon, an unquiet soul.

This may be at odds with accepted notions concerning reincarnation, but is, in itself, an interesting concept.

"Duck, I says..."

The reason that Ivy died is because the soul of Audrey Rose was reliving what happened to it at the time Audrey Rose died. Ivy may have been hypotized but the soul of Audrey Rose was not. That was why she was sufficating was that is what happens when you are in a fire then you die.

This is exactly what I thought. It seemed obvious to me but maybe for some people it wasn't.

I felt there should've been burn marks or something all over her if she was supposedly dying in a fire. That's the only problem I have with the end scene, though. I was shocked when she died so it was a really surprising twist ending. Maybe that was the point of it; to surprise the viewer.

Come, fly the teeth of the wind. Share my wings.
