This movie contradicts itself

The whole idea the movie promotes is that reincarnation is real and no one should be sad when their bodies die because their soul will continue on and only to a better life. If you know anything about the Indian belief of reincarnation, the idea is that every time a soul comes back, it comes back in a higher form - they even believe you start as an animal and then work your way to human, each time coming back higher up in the "caste system." Anyway, what was the deal with Audrey Rose? She reincarnates herself like she's supposed to just to suffer and relive her old life for 11 years and then DIE because of her past life? What went wrong with Audrey's reincarnation that it killed her? Makes it seem like the whole act of reincarnation into Ivy for 11 years was pointless. Doesn't make sense. Kid couldn't act - got so tired of seeing her hitting windows over and over... we get it. Anthony Hopkins - the only real talent here... what were you thinking? Hard up for cash?

I don't know what's funnier -- that ask these questions or that you expect cogent answers.

If you believe in karma and in reincarnation, which I don't, you believe that each life as a human being brings with it new challenges and new tests to help your soul reach Nirvana. These tests and challenges are related to tasks you did not complete in another life or to right mistakes you made. Some theories about reincarnation state that souls interact with each other until they "get it right" and then pass on to work out other things or reach perfection (yes, I'm simplifying. Sue me.)

Audrey Rose had left many things undone, dying as a child, and she probably needed to work on learning the lessons required so that she could pass on to her next plane of existence. In addition, she was probably helping other souls with which she had interacted--maybe prior to being Audrey Rose--achieve their tasks so that they can move along their paths as well. So no, there was no contradiction. She achieved what she needed to achieve in this life and her "soul was set free" another step closer to Nirvana.
