The trailer terrified me as a kid

It was the "stranger" abduction theme in the TV trailer. Back then, parents, including my own, would teach their children "never talk to strangers." From the viewpoint of a 5 year old kid, the word "stranger" was synonymous with a boogeyman who would take you away from your parents forever and do something bad to you. Children such as myself were led to believe that all "strangers" were boogeymen, so you can imagine my terror as a 5 year old kid just walking down the street and seeing a person I don't know. I wonder if any other people who were young kids back in the 70's had a similar experience.

Same here - and I never watched it until today. It was better and different than I thought.

I was born in 1970, so I remember the whole "stranger danger" fear instilled into our very souls.

The truth is, the majority, of children kidnapped, are taken by someone they know.

The trailer I saw terrified me. I'll never forget how they showed Audrey Rose screaming at a window, with the voiceover:
"She BURNED HER HANDS ON A COLD WINDOW!"

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.
