Is this the Original Talented MR Ripley ?

is the the original Mr. Ripley movie ?>

reply

Well, sort of.

This film is an adaptation of the novel "Ripley's Game", the sequel to "The Talented Mr. Ripley". The first adaptation of "The Talented Mr. Ripley" came in 1960 and years later came the version with Matt Damon. "Ripley's Game" was also made into another film with John Malkcovich.

A lot can happen in the middle of nowhere...

If you get a chance see the original -Purple Noon- with Alain Delon. It is spectacular!!! So is the Malkovich film.

All this is insiring me to watch all the Ripley films...I'm ashamed to admit I haven't seen any of them.

Where am I from, you ask? "Pomona, Glendale, ((Fullerton, La Habra, Anaheim)), whatever."

reply

I have not been able to obtain 'Purple Noon', but Damon's version is pretty close to the book. I haven't seen the perfect Ripley yet, but Malkovich comes closest. Maybe they'll do the last one with someone who can do drag and play the harpsichord. Johnny Depp would be perfect. I can see someone like Tom Cruise, but he's a little old. Someone waifish as Heloise--Natalie Portman, maybe.
