NYC?

I've read in several places here, including Roger Ebert's linked review, that some filming was in New York. But which scene(s)? I cannot recall any.

There are several scenes shot in NYC. At the beginning, when Ripley visits Dermatt, the scene takes place in SoHo, probably on West Broadway or the Avenue of the Americas. You can see the original World Trade Center in the distance. The scene in which Ripley walks on the outer wall of the highway was shot next to the Hudson River, north of the WTC (shown again). The old gangster's man calls out to Ripley to be careful -- he sits on a window sill above West Street.

The cast iron work around the entrance to Dermatt's building is typical of SoHo and Tribeca. The locations look much the same today.
