Long version of the movie

Hello.

I've been looking for the long version of this movie that is about 215 minutes long. I recorded it off the TV onto VHS tape. But I'd like to get this version without the TV commericals. If anyone has the long version or know where I can buy it, please let me know.

How much are you offering? I have 1 version of it, and yes it is hard to find. Took me forever to get it.

If you'll note the last posting on this, it indicates that IMDB's running time for this is incorrect. It's not 215 minutes, but a bit over 3 hours, or 185 minutes. This is exactly what you bought from ME and which refunded you because you CLAIMED it was missing 30 minutes and DEMANDED an explanation MULTIPLE times. So it seems you owe me an apology for essentially accusing me of lying and misrepresentation when what I sold you WAS in fact the COMPLETE, UNCUT version of this film. For those of you out there still seeking a full version. I have it for sale on Sell.Com in a 2-DVD set with full artwork for $15.00 plus $5.00 s/h domestically, slightly more internationally. This "gentleman" bought a copy from me, then accused me of misrepresenting the product by "shorting" him 30 minutes, when in fact he received exactly what I offered: The FULL, UNCUT version of this film on 2 DVDs of approximately 1-1/2 hours each. Plus, because i digitally enhanced the video files to clean them up from the original VHS source, mine is likely to be the cleanest copy you'll find out there. Come see my listings on Sell.Com under my member ID 1951michaelw.

I am interested in obtaining the full uncut version of the film but didn't find any items listed on the site you mentioned. My username is jjordan27 on there.

You're not JEREMY Jordan, are you, by any chance? The amazing songster/danceter? If you ARE that JJordan, I LOVE your work! Your film version of "The Last Five Years" with Anna Kendrick was AMAZING!

If you're NOT that JJordan, then sorry took your time with the above. To answer your question, I disabled all my ads to do year-end paperwork and will be enabling them this weekend, at which time you'll be able to find it. It's $15.00 plus $5.00 shipping or $15.00 plus $10.00 shipping if you're not in the USA of A. I will forewarn you that it's taken from my original VHS recording of the telecast, so the quality isn't what I'd like it to be, but it IS the full 185-minute 2-part film with commercials excised. Weirdly, even the recent StudioCanal blu-ray release is only 123 minutes, which makes no sense to me whatsoever, so my version remains the ONLY one out there ANYWHERE as are as I know that's not butchered. For you're convenience, this swill be the link directly to that offering:
www.sell.com/2GDBRC

If that for some reason fails to work on Monday, them simply log into Sell.Com, click the "search" tab and in the box provided there for AdLink ID, enter the 6-digit number shown above to access it.

Thanks for your interest!

Michael W

Sorry to disappoint. :) But thank you for making this version of the film available. I've been waiting for years now for this version of the film to appear somewhere. I have placed my order and anxiously await a copy of this rarity.

Hi, Joe (sigh, not Jeremy!!!:0 )
The set went out to you and ,barring weather delays in transit, should reach you early next week. You should also have received a shipment notification with tracking number and link in your e-mail so you can see how close it is getting to you...you may find the number of e-mails you get from USPS t be a bit MORE detailed than you'd like, but you certainly can't say they aren't thorough!

Enjoy the film. I have NO idea why the full version has never been released commercially...last one Ive been able to locate is a StudioCanal spiffy new blu-ray which stupidly clocks in at 123 minutes, 62 minutes chopped out for no good reason as blu-rays are certainly large enough space-wise to have accommodated the full film. The earliest commercial release on VHS was a disastrous 93 minutes and could've been done as a 2-tape set but wasn't. A lot of very interesting material has been excised in both versions which gave a much fuller picture of Hughes' life and I'm truly surprised the production company authorized such horrible butchering of their work and allowed it to go through such "surgeries".

Again, enjoy what we've got for now!

Thanks Michael, great touch on the DVD case and CD covers, very professional!

I will continue to keep an eye out for a better copy, but at this point I'm not holding my breath. Any idea who actually holds the original recordings today? Maybe they could be encouraged to release the full version.

reply

I'm assuming the production company....still alive and well in L.A. as far as Ive heard....would have them, though why they're choosing to do nothing WITH it is beyond me. I'm sorry, I don't recall the name, but it appears at the end of part two during the credits. They're listed in the Greater Los Angeles phone directory. I've tried contacting them by email in the past and received no reply, though the e-mail didn't bounce which means someone there got it and just chose to disregard. As I said, the latest release was a StudioCanal blu-ray, but it was only 123 minutes so I don't know why they bothered.

I have been looking for ANY
(commercials or not) version of the original, full length movie for a long time. If ANYONE has a copy they will provide/sell to me, please let me know, it will be appreciated.

No, Boricanator, the Amazon DVD is a rip. As another poster noted, the original is 215 minutes long. The Amazon version has been cut to hell and is only 123 minutes. I know for sure since it just arrived yesterday and I watched it last night. Needless to say, I was feel duped,

The version about to begin on channel GEM (Australia) is 138 mins long, starts at 3:42m ends at 6am (plus commercials). So I would say it's the shorter version.

Thanks Blackjack, will tune in.
Has got to be far better than the over-indulged M.S.'Aviator' vers!!! ugh.

imdb has the run time wrong. This aired over two nights, in two two hour time slots. Take out the commercials, the network bumpers, the second night 'previously on', one set of end credits (from the first night) and you end up w/ approximately 3 hours.

Permit me to jump into the fray.

I remember watching this movie when it first aired on TV. I enjoyed it so much that I later recorded it on a VHS tape from a TV broadcast years later. I wanted to have a good copy of the film, so I purchased the video from a national movie catalog. When I viewed it, I realized that several scenes had been removed, and I was disappointed. To the point, the version available on Youtube is the same abbreviated version from the video I bought years ago. I won't argue about run times, but I can list the following deleted scenes:

1. Hughes turns hobo and winds up in Louisiana, where he finds refuge at a Hughes Company facility and proceeds to burn his soiled clothes.

2. The narrator of the flying boat newsreel makes a snide comment after finishing his voice over script, indicating that the scene takes place today.

3. Hughes is seen working with the Glomar Explorer ship model in an aquarium at his hotel during his later stages of anti-social behavior and seclusion.

I'm sure there are other deleted scenes that I just don't remember, but I do know the commercially available movie is not the same one that was originally televised.
