Was supposed to air April 1st but was delayed. Scientists were actually predicting an ice age shortly!

'Alternative 3'. An Anglia Television Production. The film is taken from a 16mm print with optical sound. According to the director, Christopher Miles, this was his personal copy . . and the only one to have survived. For a list of filming locations, see the additional information after the end of the movie. First, and only, UK broadcast was on ITV at 21.00hrs on Monday 20th June 1977. It was banned in the USA. Simultaneous broadcasts were in Canada, Japan, Australia, Iceland, and Hong Kong (within their own time zones). Subsequently broadcast in Denmark, Norway, Finland, Brazil, Columbia, and Sweden.

The programme is often compared to Orson Welles' 'War of the Worlds' radio drama, which scared America, but unlike that show it maintains a current active cult status and even fires the conspiracy theories of those who believe in the illuminati. For many, 'Alternative 3' has come to mean a survival policy for those who secretly rule our world!

I guarantee you'll recognise some of the actors, from Shane Rimmer of Bond, Thunderbirds, and lately The Amazing World of Gumball, to the late Richard Marner of 'Allo 'Allo. Screenwriter David Ambrose went on to much larger projects including movies like The Final Countdown and D.A.R.Y.L. The only actor to play himself, the late Tim Brinton, went from newscaster to become a Conservative, and later UKIP, MP.
