Is this anyone else's favorite Bava?

I've always appreciated Mario Bava's aesthetic and think Black Sunday, Blood & Black Lace, Kill Baby Kill!, and A Bay of Blood are great films—however, I watched this for the first time the other night and I was utterly flabbergasted. Such a simple premise, so creepily executed. The atmosphere of the sprawling ranch house and Daria Nicolodi's really sealed the deal for me. So many terrifying and surreal scenes as well that just come out of nowhere.

I know that a lot of people consider this one of Bava's lesser films, but in all honesty I feel it may be my favorite thing he's directed. I was really blown away by this movie.

I agree, this is my favorite Baba film by far. My Aunt used to rent this movie when I was a kid, and it used to scare the hell out of me! That weird guitar music all throughout the movie is still creepy to me.

Yes, out of the Mario Bava films I've seen I enjoy this one the best. The music, dreamlike atmosphere, incredible visuals, and Daria Nicolodi's performance all make it an unforgettable experience. I actually enjoyed it more than usual tonight. It felt like seeing it the first time all over again.

I also absolutely love this movie and have always considered it one of my Bava favorites. Just the fact that Daria Nicolodi and Ivan Rassimov are in it, is a serious plus for me. The only other that I put above it is Rabid Dogs (1974), but it’s a completely different type of film. If we are only talking horror, Shock is my favorite.

I’m not sure who did the score, but I felt it was catchy and really effective also.
